Change stinks, doesn't it? If you are a 60's Scoop Survivor, change can be downright frightening.Well, it's not always bad. But it seems like most of the time, it is. It's funny that we don't think of positive change as change at all. It was just something nice that happened.We made it happen, or the world decided to give us a break for once.When something changes from what we are used to and becomes something we don't want to become used to, that's no fun.What should you do when that happens? If it's something you caused, you might be able to fix the problem yourself.You feel helpless when negative change shows up in your life, and you have no control over the situation. You might experience frustration, anger, and a feeling that the universe is out to get you.Since you can't control what happened, think about what you can control—how you respond. Remember, addiction is a disease of feelings - "DIS-ease." We are not at "Ease" with ourselves.You won't be able to control most of the things you experience. That being the case, why not look at this as an opportunity to create something magnificent?That's a better attitude than thinking you have no control over negative change and just accepting it as somehow making your life difficult.
