If you're a struggling recovering alcoholic like me, then you know how hard it can be to grow.But I've got a little secret for all you superstars!I've been using Og Mandino’s strategy to help me grow my business, and now that I've seen the results, I'm sharing it with YOU!When I got started, I had no idea how to get clients. I was starting from scratch, and even though I knew what I was doing was amazing, I didn't know how to show people that.I decided to take control of my situation by developing a strategy for engaging the people I serve in my work, and I figured out how to effectively communicate the value I'll be delivering.Here is the strategy I used:Og Mandino said, "Weak is he who permits his thoughts to control his actions; strong is he who forces his actions to control his thoughts." He said to avoid the forces of sadness, self-pity, and failure. In order to do this, when we feel depressed, we need to sing; when we feel sad, we need to laugh; when we feel sick, we need to work harder; when we feel afraid, we need to break through this barrier; when we feel weak, we need to try on new clothes; when we feel uncertain, we need to raise our voices; when we feel poor, we need to think of the wealth to come; when we feel incompetent, we need to remember our past successes; and when we feel insignificant, we need to remember our purpose.As the saying in the Alcoholics Anonymous program says, we can walk with our heads in the clouds as long as our feet are on the ground. Og Mandino said that in order to do this, we need to be very vigilant against subtle forces that will try to tear us down. He said if we become overconfident, we need to recall our past failures; when we overindulge, we need to think of our past hunger; when we feel complacent, we need to remember our competition; when we enjoy great experiences, we need to remember past shame; when we feel powerful, we need to try to stop the wind; when we obtain great wealth, we need to remember one unfed mouth; when we become overly proud, we need to remember ourselves at a moment of weakness; and when we feel our skill is unmatched, we need to look at the stars.Keeping these concepts in mind will keep us exactly where we need to be. We cannot keep propping ourselves up while at the same time stopping to put ourselves down. Using these principles will maintain our recovery balance.
