It's time for a little #toughlove. It's midway through 2023, and I'm willing to bet you’re feeling a bit discouraged when it comes to making progress on your goals.Don’t worry; you’re not alone.There are so many of us who find ourselves in a similar situation, and there’s a very common reason why you aren’t seeing the traction you want to see on those goals. Especially for those individuals who went to Residential Schools, are 60’s Scoop survivors, or attended day schools.Curious about what I’m talking about? Keep reading to get the full scoop.<ol><li>Reason #1: You have not made the commitment to recovery. You have not made a decision. In the Big Book, it said if you have decided you want what we have and are willing to go to any length to get it, then you are ready to take certain steps. So make a decision and make a commitment to living an "Active" Recovery Lifestyle.</li><li>Reason #2: You have not replaced your bad habits with good ones. Og Mandino said habits cannot be destroyed, they can only be replaced. So if you are not making progress in your recovery life, you have not examined your habits. We need to replace the bad habits of our addictive lifestyle with ‘good’ habits, or our recovery walk, or our recovery journey. This takes time to develop, but start thinking about what bad habits you can replace with good ones.</li><li>Reason #3: You are not aware of the self-hatred cycle. I learned about the self-hatred cycle in 2000. Since this time, I have struggled with this cycle of self-hatred; even though I am aware of it, I still struggle with it.
