As someone walking the path of renewal and reclaiming my indigenous identity while navigating “active” recovery, do you remember the first tool that became indispensable in your journey?For me, it has to be my journal. I wrote almost everything in the journal, and today I can reflect on my early beginnings. It is great to see how far I have come since then. Today I use my smudge kit on a daily basis to lift my prayers up to the Creator.My journal taught me that if I have a problem with someone in this world, I need to take that problem to that person, not everyone else. Otherwise, that person will not have a chance of changing their behavior. Even if they do not change their behavior, I’ve done my part. I believe that is what the Creator asks of us.What was your "first"? Feel free to share below!
