If you decide how you define success early on in your “Active” Recovery journey, you’ll reach your goals much quicker.Whether your version of success includes multiple years of sobriety...or you dream of accomplishing everything you were searching for in your active addiction....heck, maybe you’re just dreaming of the day you can wake up without being dope-sick or hungover.Whatever your big, beautiful dreams are, they’re absolutely doable.And knowing how you will measure your success is an important part of reaching them.You see, success is a personal thing. What drives one person may be totally different from someone else.My definition? My definition of success comes from Og Mandino, who said in his book, The Greatest Salesman in the World, that what they will teach me is more to prevent failure than to gain success, for what is success other than a state of mind? Which two, among a thousand wise men, will define success in the same words? Yet failure is always described in one way. Failure is man’s inability to reach his goals in life, whatever they may be.If you set a goal with us and do not accomplish it, we deem this our failure. If you set a goal and relapse, this is your failure. We want to see you accomplish twice as much as we have but in half the time. This is called education—achieving what you want, but in half the time. You can experience success on your own, but with education, and you can experience success in half the amount of time it would take you to accomplish your dreams on your own.Knowing how others measure success is a great way to zero in on yours.
